J & G Fence Company, Inc. has built fences for neighbors across Gaston County since 1989. We are locally owned, and our own crews do the work.
Since 1989
J & G Fence History: Rebuilding After Hurricane Hugo
J & G Fence Company in Gastonia began with two best friends, Joe and Gary. In September 1989, Hurricane Hugo tore through the Carolinas and left fences down all over town. Joe and Gary started putting them back up for their neighbors.
That first work was storm recovery, done on a handshake and a promise to do it right. Word spread from one yard to the next. The storm work turned into a fence company, and the promise stayed with it.
For more than 35 years since, we have served Gaston County and the greater Piedmont. Homeowners, property managers, developers and general contractors call us for new fences, repairs, replacements and custom gates. More than half of our work every year comes from repeat customers or from people they sent our way.

The People Who Run J & G Fence Company in Gastonia
Tim came on board in 2010 and runs the day-to-day work. Angie works alongside him and keeps the office, the schedule and our customers moving. When you call, you reach the people who plan and stand behind your fence.
Joe is still involved, and his standards are on every job we build. Tim's son Logan represents the next generation of this family owned fence company in Gastonia, which keeps J & G rooted in the community where it started.

Who owns J & G Fence Company?
J & G Fence Company, Inc. is locally owned and operated in Gastonia. Joe and Gary founded it in 1989, and Joe is still involved today. Tim joined in 2010 and runs the day-to-day work with Angie, who handles the office and the schedule. Tim's son Logan is the next generation, so the company stays rooted in the same community it started in.
Who will build my fence?
One of our two installation crews will build your fence. Every crew member is a J & G employee, not day labor and not a rotating subcontractor. They work to the standards Joe set when the company began, and they triple-check the finished fence before they call the job done. You will know who is coming to your property and who to call with a question.
Do you work for both homeowners and businesses?
Yes. We build for homeowners, from wood privacy fences to pool fences and gates, and we build commercial fencing for apartment communities, industrial sites, general contractors and property managers. Many of those commercial partners have worked with us for years. Whichever side you are on, you get the same crews, the same free written estimate and the same honest advice.
How did J & G Fence Company get started?
The company grew out of Hurricane Hugo in September 1989. The storm knocked down fences across the Carolinas, and two best friends, Joe and Gary, began putting them back up for neighbors around Gastonia. They worked on a handshake and a promise to do it right. That storm recovery work became a fence company that has served the area for more than 35 years.
